We all know how bad tanning is for our skin, but sometimes, there's just nothing better than laying under the beating sun on a seemingly endless summer day. Though the rays temporarily give us that beautiful bronze glow that we all crave, they also leave us with damage in the form of sun spots, freckles, and wrinkles. Talk about a love/hate relationship.
After years of lifeguarding and sunbathing without adequate protection from the sun, I've learned to adopt a daily regime as an attempt to ward off future damage. I start every morning with my Rodan + Fields Unblemish Oil Control Lotion with SPF 20. This lotion protects my face against the UV rays that intensify the post acne marks that I am trying to get rid of.
If I feel like I need some extra coverage, which is pretty much everyday, I use Laura Mericer Oil-Free SPF 20 Tinted Moisturizer. I tend to stray towards the color Bisque during the winter months and Sand during the summer. I love how it provides me with mild coverage without clogging my pores, all while moisturizing my face and easing fine lines.
In addition to these two products, I lather on Supergoop Anti-Aging City Sunscreen if I am laying in the sun for an extended period of time. This SPF 30 serum is non comedogenic, which is important as it will not cause breakouts. The vitamins and antioxidants in this light-weight serum hydrate and heal past damage, while the sunscreen prevents premature aging.
Do you have any SPF products that you recommend I try?
